Minister Engages Former Appointees

Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister for Communications invited the members of the Transition Teams for both the in-coming administration and the out-gone administration for an evening reception to express her appreciation for their cooperation in ensuring a successful transition in the administration of the Ministry.

The well-attended informal event was held on the rooftop of the Ministry’s building with Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, former Minister for Communications, Mr. Ato Sarpong, former Deputy Minister and former Chairman and CEOs of the Agencies under the Ministry in attendance.

GIFEC gets new Administrator

Mr. Abraham Kofi Asante has taken office as the Acting Administrator of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC). This follows his recent appointment by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as his representative for the institution mandated to facilitate access to electronic communications technology in the country.

Mr. Asante was introduced to the management staff of GIFEC by Mr. Issah Yahaya, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Communications, on behalf of the sector Minister Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP).

Government ready to work with telecoms sector

The Minister for Communications, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has assured that the new administration is willing to work with the private sector to facilitate the country’s economic growth.

“This government is willing to work with the private sector and the telecoms sector is key on the government's list,” said the Minister in a short remark to telecoms sector CEOs and other stakeholders at a private cocktail reception organized by the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications to welcome her into office.

An ultra-modern office complex of the National Communications Authority (NCA) was inaugurated in Accra on Tuesday November 15, 2016. Known as the NCA Tower, the multi-million cedi state-of-the-art edifice was built with disability friendly features to enable all and sundry easy access to the office.

National Cyber Security Week 2016

A conference on securing Ghana’s cyberspace and digital infrastructure from the activities of hackers and criminals has been held in Accra. The National Cyber Security Conference and Workshop, the first of its kind was on the theme “Unifying Our Efforts to Secure Our Cyber Space”. It was attended by cyber security experts, researchers, academics, representatives of telecommunications service operators, financial institutions, ICT businesses and government agencies.
