Ghana picks three awards at ITU World

Ghana picked three awards at the just ended ITU Telecom World 2017 Conference in the technologically advanced city of Busan in South Korea.

Team Ghana, led by the Deputy Minister of Communications, Nenyi George Kojo Andah won a certificate of recognition for commitment and participation in the conference and exhibition. The deputy minister received the award on behalf of Ghana, from ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao.

3.9 billion people lack access to ICT, ITU calls for change

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecom World 2017 conference opened today with an urgent call on governments as well as local and global ICT players to work together and connect the 3.9 billion people who lack ICT access in the world today. ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao, who made the call at the grand opening ceremony, observed that whereas it was refreshing to note that 95 percent of the world today has mobile connections, it is sad to note 3.9 billion people were yet to be connected.

Government embarks on digital inclusion agenda

The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Communications is playing a pivotal role in the development of a robust framework to support the digitisation of the economy in a manner that captures and benefits every citizen.
This is contained in a statement issued by Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful in line with the just opened ITU Telecoms World 2017 Conference in Busan, South Korea.

Beneficiaries of free Senior High School receive encouragement

The Minister for Communications, Hon Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has charged pioneers of the free Senior High school policy to make Government proud for introducing the Policy. She urged the first year students to stay focused by taking their studies seriously and listen to their teachers in order to come out successfully. The Minister said this when she paid a working visit to some Senior High Schools in the Ablekuma West Constituency where she doubles as the Member of Parliament for the area.

Training for NCA’s National Service Personnel launched

A two-month intensive training programme has been launched for one hundred and seventy (170) National Service Personnel attached to the National Communications Authority (NCA) for the 2017/18 service year. The training programme which is tailored to orient and develop them as they get ready to serve in various roles in the Authority, and part of a year-long programme for the service personnel, will further give in-depth insight into the various functions of the NCA in addition to other career-enhancing skills. These are aimed at preparing the personnel for the world of work.

Hon. Deputy Minister visit DTT sites

The Deputy Minister for Communications, Hon. George Andah leads a delegation from a cross-section of stakeholder agencies and organizations to Digital Terrestrial Television(DTT) sites to assess the level of work done. The DTT initiative is a technological evolution of broadcast television and advancement over analogue television.The transition from analogue to digital would ensure that Ghana conforms to global standards in Television Broadcasting.
 

NCA Board Inaugurated

Hon Ursula Owusu - Ekuful has urged members of the board of the National Communications Authority to help with the Transformation of the Communications Industry with their expertise. She said this at a ceremony to induct the board of NCA into office to steer the affairs of the Agency. The ceremony was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Communications. 

A Major Boost for Cyber Security

The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Ami Mehl has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Communications to congratulate her on her assumption of office and invite her to their flagship National Cyber Week Celebration in Tel Aviv, Israel from 25-30 June 2017.

AITI-KACE and GIFEC Youth Mobile Applications Programme

The Ghana-Indian Kofi-Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE) in collaboration with Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) launched the Ghana Youth Mobile Application Programme on May 26 in Accra. The Youth Application is an initiative by the AITI-KACE to equip the youth, especially the less privileged in the country with the skills in generating mobile apps.
