Child Online Protection is my Priority-The Hon. Minister

The Representative of UNICEF, Rushnan Murtaza in a delegation has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Communications, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
Madam Rushnan Murtaza took the opportunity to congratulate Hon. Owusu-Ekuful on her assumption of office and expressed her impression about the initiative the Ministry had taken in Cyber Security efforts. She was elated to meet the Minister to discuss pertinent issues relating to child online protection. She said, she had come for guidance and support for the Minister to help in the operationalization of the Child Online Policy to safeguard children on the use of the internet.
Hon. Owusu-Ekuful reiterated her passion for children and her priority to champion the course of children. “We cannot prevent children from using the internet but we have to guide them on safer ways of using the internet to prevent them from predators”, she said.
She also hinted on the reactivation of one laptop per child policy to help children have access to information and technology. She informed that the Ministry through its agencies had provided connectivity to over three hundred (300) schools across the country.
The Ministry is considering ways of sustaining this initiative. She expressed her commitment to partner UNICEF in the drive to protect children from online fraud.
