Hon. Deputy Minister for Communications commissions a Community Information Centre

The Ministry of Communications has commissioned an enhanced Community Information Centre (eCIC) at Abakrampa, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District in the Central Region as part of its efforts to expand infrastructure for efficient and effective communication nationwide.
Commissioning the outfit on February 16, 2018, the Hon. Deputy Minister for Communications, Mr. George Andah in his speech said the centre is to serve as the district information hub. It is to provide ICT services for all manner of people in the vicinity especially pupils and students of the district.
The people of Abakrampa are to the benefit from using the Centre to transact businesses such as e-passport, e-driving license, weather information guide to farmers and more. The Centre if well managed can also generate revenue for the district and create employment for people.
Mr. Andah stated that the Centre is well resourced with full ICT package and therefore a complete solution to bridge the gap in ICT usage “Every new technology that is developed has its advantages as well as disadvantages “he said. He entreated the district to as much as possible avoid any negative use of the Centre.
“As a word of caution, I advise the youth in this community to use the ICT facility in the positive way so that, they will be of benefit to themselves and to Ghana as a whole”
The maintenance of the eCIC is in the hands of the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District Assembly and the beneficiaries are to take very good care of it so that it will continue to serve the present and future generations.
 He also called on the individuals, philanthropist and organisations to extend assistance to the District Assembly in its maintenance.
The Centre must serve the purpose for its establishment. The Leadership of the communities are to encourage parents and adults to embrace ICT education to realise its full importance. Meanwhile, the Ministry will establish a stringent monitoring arrangement to ensure that the eCIC does not suffer the fate of the earlier ones.
Bringing his speech to an end, the Mr. Andah called on the Traditional Leaders and Elders an all members of the district to position themselves to take advantage of the enormous opportunities that the centre presents.
