Ministry of Communications participates in performance signing ceremony event

On Wednesday, 8th January, three agencies of the Ministry of Communications – Accra Digital Center, Ghana Meteorological Agency and Ghana Posts – signed Performance Contracts with the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) at a ceremony held at the Labadi Beach Hotel. The Guest of honour was the Vice President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Hon. George Nenyi Andah (MP), Deputy Minister for Communications, represented the Minister of Communications as a witness for the sector agencies at the signing of their institution’s Performance Contract.

The theme of the event ‘Transforming State Entities to Contribute Significantly Towards ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ was highlighted by Dr. Bawumia as a call on all MDAs to work assiduously and transparently to prevent corruption in the country. He further spoke of the government’s effort to create an enabling business environment for all interested parties especially the youth in order to provide jobs for Ghana’s citizenry. Dr. Bawumia ended by urging all stakeholders to work in ensuring that SIGA achieves its set out goals as this would have a positive impact on not just the institutions involved but the country as a whole.

Mr. Steven Asamoah Boateng, the Director General for SIGA, in his speech spoke of the need for State institutions to work together with SIGA to streamline the monitoring of all government contracts.

In conclusion, Mr. Asamoah Boateng cautioned government agencies on the penalties associated with any form of Contract breach as stipulated in the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) Act, 2019 (Act 990).
