Handing Over of Extended Portion of Eastern Corridor Fibre Optic Backbone Project

A portion of the Eastern Corridor Fibre Optic Extension Project has been handed over to the Government of Ghana. The project certificate was signed by Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister for Communications on behalf of the Government of Ghana and Mr. Jan Plenge, the Export Director of Nokia also signed his part in the Presence of Her Excellency, Tove Degnbol, the Danish Ambassador to Ghana at a brief ceremony in Accra.

Ministry of Communications Inaugurates E-Gates

The Minister for communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has inaugurated biometric e-Gates at the Kotoka International Airport which is part of government’s digitization agenda.
According to the Minister these biometric e-Gates will also help the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to enhance service delivery by facilitating exchange of information. 

Ministry of Communications Undertakes Clean Up Exercise

Members of staff of the Ministry of Communications undertook a massive clean up exercise early this morning within the premises and the environs of the Ministry. The exercise was done to rid Government’s Business Districts of filth and to complement His Excellency the President’s vision to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa.  

Hon. Deputy Minister for Communications commissions a Community Information Centre

The Ministry of Communications has commissioned an enhanced Community Information Centre (eCIC) at Abakrampa, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District in the Central Region as part of its efforts to expand infrastructure for efficient and effective communication nationwide.
Commissioning the outfit on February 16, 2018, the Hon. Deputy Minister for Communications, Mr. George Andah in his speech said the centre is to serve as the district information hub. It is to provide ICT services for all manner of people in the vicinity especially pupils and students of the district.

Appointment of AG. Director General of NITA

The Hon. Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 announced to Board of Directors and Staff of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) about the appointment of Mr. David Gyewu, as the New Ag. Director General of NITA.

Cybersecurity Capacity Maturity Model Assessment Held

As part of its support for the implementation of Ghana’s National Cyber Security Policy and Strategy (NCSPS), the World Bank has engaged the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC) of the University of Oxford to conduct cybersecurity maturity assessment for Ghana.

Ghana’s first satellite launched To Space

GhanaSat-1 is the first artificial satellite developed by Ghanaian engineers and launched into space. 60 years after the Soviet Union launched the first artificial satellite into space, Ghana through a private institution known as All Nations University College became the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to launch an educational satellite, Ghanasat-1, into earth orbit on Friday 7 July 2017!

IMANI Centre for Policy and Education released its annual public sector performance report at an awards Ceremony and dinner held at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra. The report, named inspirational Public sector Leadership Awards ranked 45 Ministries, Departments and Agencies on five main pillars: Engagement, Transparency, Social Inclusion, Innovation and Management Effectiveness for the period October 2016 – October 2017.
