The South Korean Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Jung-Taek Lim today, Wednesday May 26, 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP), to discuss how technology could be used to develop the country in terms of trading and e-commerce.

This is because most countries are presently faced with drastic effects of climate change which has had significant impact on food security and often led to natural disasters such as catastrophic floods and droughts.

Finland Ambassador to Ghana calls on Minister for Communications and Digitalisation

The Finland Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Dr. Jyrki Pulkkinen, on Monday 17th May 2021, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD), Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP) at her office in Accra.

The visit was to touch base with the Minister as the acting chair of the Freedom Online Coalition (FoC) event for this year. Finland is a joint organiser of the FoC as well as the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ghana.

Government poised to ensure proper regulation of cyber security- Ursula

Minister for Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD), Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP) says following the coming into force of the Cyber Security Act 2020, government was determined to ensure proper regulation of the Cyber space to build a national information Infrastructure.

According to her, efforts were underway to operationalize the Cyber Security Authority this year and because the law “makes provision for a Cyber–Security Fund, we are working with Ministry of Finance to activate that as well”.

Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation to Re-register all SIM Cards from July-December – Ursula

Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP) says all SIM cards and SIM enabled devices would be re-registered from next month and end in December.  All unregistered sims will be blocked.

“We must clamp down on cyber criminals hiding behind the anonymity of digital systems to commit antisocial acts and this exercise is a key part of that campaign” she added.

The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) today, 15th of May, 2021 began a two-day retreat for the Parliamentary Select Committee on Communications at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra to update members of the Committee, especially the new members, on the activities of the Ministry.

The Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful today met with the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, officials from the NCA, GRIDCO, GIFEC and CSquared to discuss issues regarding the ongoing collaboration between GRIDCO and GIFEC on the use of GRIDCO’s fiber as a backhaul for the extension of connectivity to rural, unserved, and underserved areas. (Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion Project).

Communications and Digitalization Minister visits Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC)

Minister for Communications and Digitalization on Wednesday, 21st April, 2021, visited the Postal and Courier Regulatory Commission (PCRC) as part of her tour of the agencies under the Ministry.

Staff complained about the lack of office space and inadequate vehicles to carry out their work. They asked for capacity building for effective delivery of work.
