Ministry of Communications launches Security Operations Centre

The Ministry of Communications, through the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), has launched the Security Operations Centre (SOC), aimed at improving security of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The establishment of the new security infrastructure comes as an additional effort by the Government to minimize Cybercrime in the country and forms part of activities to mark the 2020 edition of the National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM).

60,000 Females to benefit from Cyber Security Training in Three Regions

The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Huawei Technologies, Ghana has educated Female Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region on Cyber Security as part of the Ministry's Girls-in-ICT Program.

The pilot programme covers two other regions- Eastern and Central regions.

About 20,000 girls will benefit from the training in each region. It will also focus on the Cyber Security Act 2020.

GCTU Builds Capacity of RSIM Staff of the Ministry of Communications

As part of effort to equip officers of the Research, Statistics, and Information Management Directorate (RSIMD) of the Ministry of Communications to deliver effectively on their core mandate, the Ministry in Conjunction with the Ghana Communications Technology University, organized a two-day Research Workshop for the Directorate as well as selected officers from other Directorates and an Agency of the Ministry of Communications.

Child Online Protection Portal Launched

The Ministry of Communications through the National Cyber Security Center on Thursday October 1, 2020 launched the Child Online Protection Portal (COPP) at the Accra Digital Centre in the Greater Accra Region as part of activities for the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). The portal is designed to protect children from online sexual harassment and other internet related abuses.

Free Wifi for Senior High Schools – Ursula Owusu- Ekuful

Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has indicated that government would begin the roll-out of free Wifi for Senior High Schools (SHSs) in October, this year.

She said despite the shutdown of schools due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, it was important that the country prepares for the future.

The Ministry of Communications to support the efforts of the CID- Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP)

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service in collaboration with the United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF), have inaugurated a model child protection forensic lab at the CID headquarters in Accra on Thursday, 27th April, 2020.

The aim of the laboratory is to assist the CID to combat child online pornography and offer digital forensic services to assist investigations. Funded by the CID and the UNICEF, the digital forensic laboratory will serve as investigative needs for children and young people.

Minister for Communications Tours Ghana Tech Lab

The Minister for Communications, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has paid a working visit to the Ghana Tech Lab to engage young entrepreneurs using technology to improve living conditions of the country.

The tour was part of activities by the Minister to familiarise herself with certain key sections under the Ghana Tech lab.

Community Associate for Ghana Tech Lab, Ms Belinda Darkwa, took the Minister round the various sections of the Lab to familiarise herself with operations of the facility.
