Minister for Communications Tours Ghana Tech Lab

The Minister for Communications, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has paid a working visit to the Ghana Tech Lab to engage young entrepreneurs using technology to improve living conditions of the country.

The tour was part of activities by the Minister to familiarise herself with certain key sections under the Ghana Tech lab.

Community Associate for Ghana Tech Lab, Ms Belinda Darkwa, took the Minister round the various sections of the Lab to familiarise herself with operations of the facility.

ICT Training Underway for 570 Girls in the Oti Region

Ministry of Communications, in partnership with its agencies is conducting training for 570 school girls in the Oti Region, as part of the annual National Girls in ICT celebrations.

National Cyber Security Centre and CID Nab Empress Leak Operator

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) of the Ministry of Communications, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service and the National Cyber Security Technical Working Group, have nabbed the administrator of the notorious website, empress leak.

Empress Leak is a website known for the publication of child pornographic and adult sexual content. The website records about 600,000 monthly users who are located in Ghana, Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

The Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, on Friday, 12th June, 2020, commissioned an ICT Laboratory at New Century Career Training Institute (NCCTI) in Dansoman in the Ablekuma West Municipality.

Launch of GH COVID-19 Tracker App

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications(MoC)has launched a new app which will help in tracing people who have come into contact with COVID—19 positive individuals.

The user friendly and free to download mobile software application will be available for android and iOS devices.

Its intended for productivity assistance which will augment the states effort in the fight against the global pandemic.

Blocking of Prank Calls to 112

As the country intensifies its effort to reduce the spread of COVID – 19 and to improve Ghana’s emergency response rate, the emergency number 112 has been set up to facilitate assistance to all in need.


Access to this line is however being hampered by the incessant prank calling of some unscrupulous callers. Currently, Prank calls to the emergency number cover more than 95% of the call traffic.

Sensitization on the implementation of Right to Information Act.

The Ministry of Information on 9th March, 2020, trained Management, Heads of Agencies, Schedule Officers and Front Desk personnel of the Ministry of Communications (MoC) on the provisions of the Right to Information Act, which was passed on 26th March, 2019.  The training took place at the Conference room of the MoC.

The Right to Information (RTI) Act facilitates citizens’ access to information from State Institutions. The Law prescribes the processing of requests in a timely manner.
