Ministry of Communications hands over LTE Fibre Asset Management to Lebara Ghana

The Minister for Communications, Hon. Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, in a short ceremony on May 3, 2019, handed over the e-Government Infrastructure to Lebara Ghana Ltd to manage and commercialise for ten (10) years. The government fibre and LTE network was previously managed by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has appealed to President Akufo-Addo to allow Ghana lead the cyber security awareness drive across the West African sub-region.

Minister Demands Cooperation in Fight against Cybercrime

Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has called for stronger ties among the 63 member states of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime.
According to the Minister, each of the 63 states needs to identify their unique role and obligations to ensure the effective implementation of the Convention. Failure to cooperate effectively, she said, will mean that the various states risk sinking together.

Government Bans Use Of Private Emails for Official Duties

The Government of Ghana has introduced a new measure banning all public officials from using their private emails for transacting official duties.
Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful made this known to the media on Friday at the Lansdown Hotel, Aburi at the opening session of the National Cyber Security Technical Working Group first retreat for 2019.

Ghana Places 9th On Global Social Media Rankings

Millions of Ghanaians may on a daily basis complain about lack of employment opportunities and economic hardships.
But despite the fact that they complain of economic hardships and lack of employments, they certainly are not idle on a daily basis but are actually able to raise the resources needed – internet data, smartphones, computers – to keep themselves active on the internet, particularly social media.
This has earned Ghana the 9th position globally in terms of hours spent on social media.

Use Radio as a platform for Effective Dialogue - Hon. Andah

The Deputy Minister of Communications George Andah has stressed the need for radio to be used as a platform to promote effective dialogue and civic participation in developmental and socio-economic discourse. 
Speaking in Parliament to commemorate the 12th World Radio Day, Mr.Andah said the influence of radio communication on the development of any nation far outweighs the comparative advantage of other media.

Vodafone Launches ‘Express Wi-Fi’ in Accra

Vodafone Ghana in collaboration with Facebook has launched a new data product as part of its strategy to promote access to reliable and cheap internet with the aim of reaching underserved areas.
Dubbed ‘Express Wi-Fi’ by Facebook, it is a product that helps retail entrepreneurs to offer fast and affordable Wi-Fi services at hotspots spread across the communities and residents at James town in Accra, Nima, Maamobi, and Abbosey Okai.
