Ursula pays courtesy call on Sefwi Wiawso paramountcy

Minister for Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD), Mrs Owusu-Ekuful has paid a courtesy call on the paramountcy of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area.
The visit forms part of the Minister's tour of the region as the first port of call.
Accompanying the Minister were the Chief Director, Mrs Magdalene Apenteng, Director, Research Statistics and Information Management (RSIM), Mr. Alfred Nortey; Mr Prince Sefa, Administrator, Gifec; Ms Eva Andoh-Opoku, Deputy Administrator, Gifec; the Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso , Hon. Lewis Owusu Agyapong.
Nana Yaw Agyemang Badu Abusuapanin, welcomed the Minister and her entourage.
The Minister on her part indicated that she's been sent to the region by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to get first hand information on the Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion project and also visit the training centers of the Girls-in-ICT project.
She briefed the paramountcy on the Girls in ICT program on going in the region adding, that 900 girls have so far benefited from the training with 100 from Prestea Huni Valley.
She noted that the first 100 girls will be given laptops and others benefit from ICT labs.
She said the ministry aims at expanding the rural telephony project to the various underserved communities. "We will see to it that rural areas without networks are connected. Without network, one cannot take partake in the digital activities.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful indicated that there are 2,016 cell sites being constructed across the country for the unserved and the underserved communities " We are inspecting the sites at Nkonya, Abrabra and Mile 3.
She explained the need for the girls to take part in the Mentorship program to encourage them choose careers in the field of ICT.
Minister said bag pack and mathematics sets from Huawei will be presented to the children as part of efforts to whip up the interest of the school children in their academic work.
