The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Media General, Mrs. Beatrice Agyemang, on Thursday led a delegation from the company to pay a courtesy call on the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP).
Briefing the Minister, Mrs. Beatrice Agyemang said, the visit was to explore areas of partnership between the Ministry and Media General ahead of its maiden edition of the Africa Digital Festival, which the company plans to host in Accra from December 15–20, 2025.
The Manager for Digital at Media General, Mr. Sena Quashie, said the festival is envisioned as a (5) Five-day Pan-African event that will convene policymakers, innovators, industry players, and content creators to deliberate on Africa’s digital future.
According to him, the programme would include policy roundtables, technology showcases, and strategic engagements with digital Ministers across the continent.
He stressed that Ghana has the opportunity to position itself as the hub for digital policy leadership in Africa, noting that stronger collaboration with the Ministry will elevate the festival’s visibility and impact.
Hon. Samuel Nartey George welcomed the initiative and expressed delight that the company’s vision aligns with the Ministry’s broader agenda of establishing Ghana as a thought leader in digital policy.
He revealed that the Ministry was already working on a similar platform—an African Digital Davos—slated for next year, which will bring together ICT Ministers, innovators, and global technology companies for strategic discussions.
Hon. Nartey George assured the delegation of the Ministry’s support and encouraged them to submit a formal proposal to enable official collaboration.
He emphasized that 2026 would be a landmark year as the National Communications Authority (NCA) marks its 30th anniversary, with a series of high-profile international ICT events expected to be hosted in Ghana.
Discussions also touched on content regulation, the future of broadcasting, and the need for sustainable models for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).
Hon. George reiterated his commitment to cleaning up Ghana’s media space through stronger regulatory standards while promoting innovation and professionalism in broadcasting.
The meeting concluded with both parties affirming their readiness to collaborate on upcoming programmes, including the Africa Digital Festival in December and other Ministry-led initiatives in 2026.
