Core Functions
The Directorate as part of its mandate performs the following:
- Initiate and formulate policies taking into account the needs and aspirations of the people.
- Undertake development planning in consultation with the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of sector-wide digital initiatives and track its outputs.
- Coordinate, monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the performance of the sector.
- Collaborate with Development Partners and Regional Bodies for the attainment of Continental Digital initiatives .
Units under the Directorate
The Directorate has four Units, namely:
Policy Coordination Unit
The Unit initiates and coordinates the broad sector policies of the Ministry.Planning and Budgeting Unit
The Unit leads in the design and provision of plans based on a sound framework for the effective implementation of the Ministry’s planned programmes, projects and activities. It is also responsible for preparing sector budget and the provision of technical guidance to Management on budgetary matters.Monitoring and Evaluation Unit
