ATU is made up of 44 member states and other private sector members. The ATU has a Governing Council in between Plenipotentiary Conference held every four years to elect the Council members and the Secretary General. Ghana is an ATU Council member. ATU holds preparatory meetings for all ITU Conferences and Assemblies to coordinate African Common proposals. ATU holds capacity building workshops and fora for its members.

ATU has scheduled 8th to 10th July 2024 to host the ATU 25^th Session of Administrative Council meeting in Kinshasha, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ghana will be a participant
