Ankara, Turkey– The Ghanaian delegation led by the Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, today (13th May, 2026) participated in the opening ceremony of the 26th Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-26).
The delegation’s attendance signals Ghana’s continued engagement in shaping global policy on digital technology, telecommunications, and regulatory frameworks. Representatives joined policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and experts from across the world to mark the start of the symposium.
Speaking on the sidelines at the event, the Deputy Minister reiterated Ghana’s commitment to advancing inclusive digital transformation, strengthening regulatory cooperation, and fostering innovation that supports economic growth and public service delivery. The ministry has prioritized expanding digital infrastructure, improving cybersecurity, and creating an enabling environment for tech startups and digital services.
GSR-26 convenes this year to address key challenges and opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem, including artificial intelligence governance, spectrum management, digital inclusion, and cross-border data flows. The symposium provides a platform for regulators to exchange best practices and align on approaches to emerging technologies.
Ghana’s participation comes as the country accelerates its Digital Ghana Agenda, which focuses on leveraging technology to improve education, healthcare, agriculture, and public administration. The delegation is expected to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event to explore partnerships and investment opportunities in Ghana’s digital sector.
The symposium runs over the coming days, with sessions covering policy roundtables, technical workshops, and high-level dialogues on the future of global regulations.
